It’s the end of the week which means it’s time to recap what you might have missed. Here’s Nerd News.
The One of the Greats Get’s Prettier:
It’s no secret that I love Cowboy Bebop, in fact it’s one of my favourite series. It’s fun, well paced and has a cast of loveable characters with backstories made even more interesting by the series lack of exploration in their past. As the remastered re-release comes closer we get a better look at the remasters images, and it looks pretty good. The series is already available to pre-order in a number of places like Amazon but will hit store shelves December 16. See you then, Space Cowboy.
The Return of BOB?
Prep the donuts and coffee, Twin Peaks is returning. The David Lynch show will return with a nine episode limited series on Showtime. The episodes will be written and produced by series creators Lynch and Mark Frost. The show will be released in 2016 to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the show, and will continue the story in modern day. I can’t wait for more Agent Cooper.
A Theme for a Man named Saul:
In more exciting TV news, a music video for Better Call Saul is up. The video shows what we can only assume will be the shows theme song by Junior Brown and bits of the upcoming series. The lyrics were written by series creators Vince Gillian and Peter Gould. Look for Better Call Saul in 2015.
Iron Man in Name Only:
It’s been a question since the last Iron Man film if Robert Downey Jr. would be in another Marvel film. Now it seems that he’s set the record straight, stating “…I’m going to do other stuff with Marvel. I’m still going to be involved with Marvel and there’s going to be plenty of other fun stuff.” Now whether that means that odd Avengers 3 idea with Stark working with newer Marvel Heroes, only time will tell. But Downey Jr’s next Marvel appearance will be in Avengers: Age of Ultron this May.
Bustin’ Makes you look Good:
Over the past few months rumours about the a new Ghostbusters sequel have been all over the place. Now it seems that things are getting done with Paul Feig announced as director and now a writer has been added. The Heat screenwriter Katie Dippold has signed to write a script for the all female led Ghostbusters 3. Now the real question is, who will return from the originals? I’m guessing Dan Aykroyd is free, unless he’s too busy yelling about crystal skulls or whatever he does now.
Welcome to the WORLD OF TOMORROW!
Hey remember that odd Disney project that Brad Bird, George Clooney and Hugh Laurie have been working on? Well it seems that a trailer is making the rounds. While the plot is still a guarded secret we get a look at the magic pin that allows transportation to the titular Tomorrowland. Despite the script being written by Bird and Lost co-creator Damon Lindelof some of the inspiration allegedly comes from a box found in the Disney archives. Either way the film could be a Disney film that I’m looking forward to watching. Tomorrowland will be released in IMAX and other film formats in May of next year.
Casey Affleck is going to star in Boston Strong a film about the Boston Marathon Bombing. Kingdom Hearts III has moved over to the Unreal Engine 4, which means look for the Unreal Engine 5 in the next few months. That’s seemingly how they do things. Fans of the Gundam Build Fighters fans will be happy to hear that the new season (Gundam Build Fighters Try!) is already streaming in English subtitles. Canadian Native and Ring of Honor wrestler Michael Elgin seemingly quite the company on Twitter, according to many sources this isn’t a storyline. Jennifer Jason Leigh is set to lead in Quentin Tarantino’s next film, the Hateful Eight.
